Pouncing on desserts!

Last weekend, I took another trip to Enderun Colleges at McKinley Hill to conquer my favorite challenge: DESSERT BUFFET!! Actually it was Enderun's Pastry demo, but more about that on the next post. Here's what I wore:

Got this shirt in Bangkok and I never really got to wear it! So when I woke up one morning, I decided to pull this out of my closet and throw it in. When I got to my work table, I plopped down my seat, and everyone asked me if I went home last night. I was like, what?? Then someone had to break the idea to me in the most 'inappropriate' way...

"It's the after-*bleep* shirt!!"

Pleats, Please

I grew up wearing pleats 5 times a week, for the whole duration of my basic and secondary education. I had to love and own it, lest I wanted to look like a recruited French chambermaid.

So when I whipped out my pleated shorts (that actually looks like a skirt), I felt like a schoolgirl again. I took the outfit seriously and channeled a scholarly look. Achieve!!

Dainty Nights

When invited to a random 'night out', my mind goes haywire on what to wear. It was night time, pouring so hard, and the venue had a very low temp. My outfit was... very inadequate.

One of the toxic things in life is making a vacation itinerary. You bombard your head with so many questions- how to squeeze in everything in just a couple of days, where to stay, where to go, what to do, WHAT THE HELL. But some people (me!) just looooove making trip itineraries because it's a way of learning more about the place that you're going to, and not just the usual touristy stuff.

So here's a short cheatsheet for those going to Bangkok for the next couple of months!

 

1. A cab from Suvarnabhumi Airport to Sukhumvit area costs around THB 180-200. Toll is around THB 25-30, and Airport Taxi surcharge is THB 50. Big cabs (Avanza, etc.) charge more than usual sedan cabs. We took an Avanza cab to Sukhumvit and the meter went as high as THB 600.

More Thai Food!

I strolled around Bangkok to shop, shop, and shop some more. But of course, food stayed on my mind! Here are some of the stuff that I tried while shopping around malls and discount places:

Weird food from KFC



I don't mean to offend the Thai KFC people (or Thai people in general) but I don't know what this dish is called. I can say that it has chicken, some sort of sea algae, onions, and hell lot of chili. I wasn't able to finish this because it's too spicy. My tummy cooked up a revolution after a few spoonfuls of this. Don't worry, I'll try to know the name of this dish when I go back.

 

Spicy + Yummy = Somboon

Even before I left MNL, a lot of people have been telling me to eat at this place that serves awesome awesome seafood. While in transit going to this resto, I was hoping that they don't disappoint because 1.) I love seafood to the moon and back and 2.) Tom Yum is part of my "Great Dishes To Eat" list (Tom Yum has shrimp. Shrimp is seafood). Someone heard my prayer, they do serve gooood foooood!



We visited the Ratchada branch of Somboon Seafood. It's right beside the MRT Huay Kwang station so you definitely won't get lost going here.

McThai Lovin'

During my almost 1-week stay in Bangkok, I've had breakfast, lunch, and dinner where they serve yummy McGoodness! Yup, I tried McDonald's- Thai style. I have this habit of making sure that I try the food at McDonald's to wherever country I go too. It's fun comparing Mickey D food all over the globe.

My first dose of McThai food is for breakfast on our second day. Their breakfast menu is very similar to Filipino McDonald's.

I was thinking that I can start posting stuff about not just what I wear/want to wear, but also pieces that I want to see guys wearing!

So while strolling around the wondrous place of Platinum, we spotted a LOT of shirts with witty and funny prints on them. I'm a collar-on-boys kind of girl, but seeing those shirts with attention-grabbing prints and designs... I'll make an exception! Casual shirts can also make guys look good, right?

We bought so much shirts (I think around 55 pieces) because they are all "dope" and "whack". HAHA!



 

Dressed Down in Bangkok

My blog has been out of it since last week, I blame everything to good spicy food and chic affordable clothing in Bangkok. I can't express how much I am in la-la-loooove with the city! New York still tops my list but if you're cray-cray about cheap price tags, Bangkok is your Krypton.

I'll probably be flooding my blog with Bangkok entries and whatnot for the next days, so be ready! I have so much to share about the BKK. First thing is, DRESS DOWN.
