Good Vibes

Welcome the weekend with good vibes! Have a drink this Friday night, wake up late on a Saturday, and lounge around with wine by Sunday...

.. while I CPR this blog and bring it back to life.

I'll be back soon, beechez.

You Make Me Happy

One question pops inside my head every time you make me feel happy, “What sorcery did I do to deserve this?”. Maybe it has something to do with Ed Lapiz’s theory of why good things happen to bad people. Until today, I still have no idea what heavenly act I’ve done to genuinely deserve this, you know, you making me happy.

If you don’t know. I’m telling you now: You make me happy.
I can repeat it 999 times without getting tired or stopping for a gasp of air.  I can say it all over until you understand the meaning of it, and fully grasp the idea. I can have it on display on billboards along the spacious avenue that you pass by every day. If you still don’t get it, let me expound in words that I know of:

You make me happy, like how food makes me happy. Or even better than that! Like when you haven’t had your first meal on a busy day and you decided to go at a McDonald’s drive-thru at 4 in the afternoon to chow down five Big Macs. Like how you feel so drunk and you want to eat local barbecue at 3am, and you actually finish four plates of it.

You make me activate my girly hormones. You make me very giddy inside, like the Teletubbies are taking over my brain. Zac Efron makes me scream like a 12-year-old Bieber fan, but you make me scream like Michael Jackson fans - worldwide combined. Even on a very bad day, I will just think of you for a bit and I actually will swoon over you. Not kidding.

You make me melt like ice cream. Whenever you stare at me with your lovely eyes, I want to look back but you just make me feel so weak inside. So I just look away and smile – like I always do.

You make me so alive, like a zombie that was brought back to life. Like an electric current passing through my veins. Like a papercut that hurts like hell. Like every breath you freely make on Earth. Or all of that combined.

If my words aren’t enough for you to realize that you’re giving me the greatest feeling in the world, then I guess I have to do something. Give you a big hug, smother you with kisses – I don’t really know.

Or maybe you need to actually feel it - I’ll make you very happy too.

Kilig Ain't Dead!

A good friend of mine asked me when was the last time I received a phone call from a guy- not through mobile; a land line. I had a hard time remembering, because I guess it was ages ago.

"I always get phone calls from my dad.", I said.

"Nope, not that. A phone call from a guy who likes you. You know, talk for hours about random things. Yun super kilig!"

I stopped for a moment and thought about the last phone conversation that I had over the phone, with a boy who I was crazy over. He was asking homework help from me. I didn't care if he was just using me for my skills. I just felt extremely happy that I was hearing his voice from the other end of the line. It was a phone call for hours; something that you won't get from just anyone.

I just muttered, "Yeah, a few years back. In college."

Suddenly, I wanted to feel that spark again- that moment wherein you can't contain that overflowing happiness inside you that you just want to burst like a bubble. I just want to be kilig (a Filipino term for feeling butterflies in your stomach) all over. During our (milk)tea time today, I received a rectangular box  that had flowers in them. Someone sent me three stems of pastel roses. There wasn't any note or name, so I don't know who sent them to me. I was so curious, because I wanted to know who should I give thanks to.

Oh wait, no. I really wanted to know who mustered up some courage to send me flowers.

Nowadays, sending flowers is just so-so. Love letters aren't in anymore, and phone calls are very baduy. Sex comes first, and you're pretty lucky if you get a call after a week of stripping under the sheets. Young girls now get kilig when a guy comments "Hot!" on their Facebook profile photos. They get so worked up with the idea of someone wanting to bang them.

I'm not some conservative wannabe (I say dirty comments all the time haha) and I'm not going to force people to be one. I just miss feeling those things that they sing in pop songs. I miss getting calls full of plain randomness. I miss receiving letters written with effort and bad handwriting. I miss getting surprise visits even if its just for 10 minutes. I miss getting my hand held and feel butterflies in my stomach. I miss being kilig.

Being 20+ shouldn't stop me from feeling that. I still believe that I will be able to find it soon, and I'll get to feel it everyday. I don't care if it makes me feel like I'm going to get a heart attack and my chest will burst out anytime- I just want that in my life.

Who knows? Maybe I'll find that kilig soon. Or maybe I have to wait for a few days, months, or even years! I'm keeping the faith that no matter what, I'll feel it again. All I know is that someday, I'll be able to tell my friend this:

"I didn't just get a phone call. I got so much more. Grabe, super kilig!"

Nine Loves

Here are 9 things that I totally love:

9. I love my pup, Potato. Ever since she came into my life, it's been one crazy ride. You know what they say about having a dog is like a step closer to having a baby? It's almost true.

8. For most girls, diamonds are their best friends. Or jewelry? For me, I would definitely say shoes. Don't you dare question my love for shoes.

7. I love to listen to music and blast them out loud- especially during lazy afternoons.

6. When I was a little girl, my parents would always bring me along to their travels. I would be so amazed with the things I saw, taste, and experience!

5. I'm one of those people who HATE to diet. You know, people should just eat. If I can run a campaign for making everyone eat whatever food they want, I'd gladly do it!

4. I love geeks! Not that I fancy boys wearing specs or what, but I love learning information from them.

3. Heck, I'm joining the bandwagon. I cannot express more about my love for prep boys. They're just absolutely darling to my eyes.

2. They say a lot of people come and go in your life- and only a few stay. Those are the ones that I treasure the most, and most definitely have an awesome time with!

1. For whatever H stands for (Ham, Hermes, History, etc.), I love that letter.

Ten Secrets

I came across my friend Lalaine's blog and saw this 10-Day You Challenge. I wanted to do something like this just in time for Holy Week! You know, self reflection and all that. You might want to try this yourself!

Starting off with Day 1, here are my 10 secrets that I can safely say out loud:

10. When I want quiet time, I just put on earphones and don't listen to anything. I just have them on my ears. (It's plugged on a gadget, of course!)

9. When I was a toddler, I fell off the window. I got a huge slit on my right eye; and the first medication I got was ice.... inside a used and smelly sock.

8. I used to have this huge crush on one of my close friends. I'd willingly stay late in school just to see and be him.

7. Speaking of crushes, I also have this huge crush on one of my friend's boyfriend. I wish they split up soon.. NOT! Just kidding.

6. Eto pa, huling hirit! People would always think that I'm loyal to the male group, but I had a teeny-tiny like/crush phase on a girl before. She was very nice and pretty. Too bad she's not.. a boy.

5. I HATE Dinuguan. I hate the smell and how it looks like! Okay for those who aren't from the Philippines, Dinuguan is pork blood stew. I don't want to post a photo of it! Just Google it and see for yourself.

4. This isn't a secret to a lot of people- but I'll let it out. I don't like bananas. The smell is disgusting. If I need Potassium, I rely on tablets.

3. I fall asleep easily. If you let me lie down on the bed for a minute or two, I'm off to dreamland. Yep, that fast.

2. I secretly have a thing for guys who have a nice set of chest and arms.

1. I'm a very sensual person. :)

There you go! If you're daring enough, share your secret with me! Don't worry, I'll keep it safe.

That Girl, Trixie!

Finally after doing two blog moves, I've decided to do my third and FINAL move.
Yes, Wild About Retail and The Super Kitty will be gone but they will remain in my heart forever. The content is all here anyways! So if you want to read some of my previous entries from my other blogs, they're all here!

Why move (again)? Well, don't get me wrong. I love blogging about fashion on Wild About Retail but I'm always craving for personal content. I made The Super Kitty for that, but something just doesn't feel right.

So here I am on That Girl Trixie, putting all my heart and soul in one space on the interweb.

Oh, and I've changed my Twitter username too! Follow me @ThatGirlTrixie!

Happy Lemon at Bonifacio High Street!

I often crave for milk tea, usually in the afternoon when my body needs a good dose of sugar and milk. Thing is, I hibernate at Bonifacio High Street... AND THERE IS NO MILK TEA PLACE HERE. Yeah sure, there are around 2 milk tea shops near the area but sometimes I don't feel like walking a mile or two just to get a cup. I'm trying to save my fats here, people! So I have been wishing for a milk tea place here, right smack in the middle of High Street.

Finally, the holy cows heard me! Guess what milk tea place opened today in Bonifacio High Street...

10 For Twenty-Two

At first, I thought turning 22 is just like any ordinary day- nothing special unlike turning 18 or 21. I never knew that it would make so much impact in my life. Maybe because of the things that happened during the day I turned 22? I don't know. But whatever, I'm 22 now. I'm embracing my age and going to make a lot out of another year that I have been blessed with.

For my 22nd year in this world, I will TRY to accomplish ten things. Just something to make my life extra-exciting! So, here they are..

Dear 22-year-old self, please accomplish the 10 things below:

1. Avoid bad hangovers. Missing a flight because you are eternally drunk isn't cool, really. And celebrating your 21st birthday with a very very bad hangover while trying to redeem the car you left at some random parking lot isn't fun. You can drink 50+ liters of hard liquor, but make sure you do not mess up anything. Cheers!

2. Travel to somewhere you've never been before. Maybe it be local or international, go travel. Open your mind to somewhere you've never set foot.

3. Be a bigger girl. Big things and challenges will come your way this year, so always play the bigger card.

4.  Always give off positive vibes. Remember the book The Secret? Law of Attraction works. If you  send good vibes, you'll attract good vibes to come to you. Good vibes makes you look younger, too.

5. Eat a lot, and eat some more. You'll never know when the world stops producing noms. So while you can still have it, eat it! And while you have it, share it.

6. Be an achiever. You don't stop achieving after graduating from university. You start a bigger scale when you get to the real world. Nothing wrong with cutting yourself some slack, but life is so much better if you're achieving so much at such a young age.

7. Take risks. I recently discovered that taking greater risks increases not only big chances of returns, but also makes you more confident. You might lose in some situations, but at least you tried, right?

8. Take photos. You know you loooooove taking photos. So, just take them! Snap away. Whether you're alone, with friends, or with your dog Potato.

9. Be awesome. The world is a place for 70 billion special and unique people. A year ago, you said you wanted to make a difference. So, how are you going to do that? Don't just stand out; be awesome.

10. Fall in love. Don't question intentions. Don't stop your feelings. This is the perfect time to love- so just let your heart do the rest.

Here's to 365 days of trying to check everything on my list, and live my life at twenty-two!

Open Letter to the Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI)

Dear Mr. Person who delivers the BPI cards and/or Ms. BPI Hotline 89-100,

Hello, I hope you had a wonderful Friday. If you ask me, I certainly did not have a good one.

Why so? Because for the longest time I have been waiting for the delivery of my credit card. Yup, it's been more than 2 weeks and my card hasn't arrived yet. You see, I've been trying to schedule a delivery on December 9. At first, you said "NO. WE CAN'T." But after another request, you said "OK. WE CAN." So I expected that you will deliver on December 9, 2011 between 10am to 6pm.

THAT IS TODAY.

But let's rewind 2 days back. Wednesday, you dropped by the office and I wasn't there. Thursday, it was a city holiday but you still dropped by. Our Accountant even told you to drop by on FRIDAY because for sure, I will be there. Friday, which is today, you did NOT arrive. I made a request (I even have a report number here) for my card to be delivered on this very specific day. You managed to drop by on a holiday, but not on a working day? WHAT KIND OF SORCERY IS THAT????

I made another request to have my card delivered on Monday, December 12. If my card doesn't show up, BANK BRANCHES WILL EFFING BURN AND BANK MANAGERS' HEADS WILL EFFING ROLL. I know I live in the Philippines, and usually deliveries are late, but ask the bloggers that I work with and they will say that I deliver the stuff they need, even at 11:00 PM. So you can't give me an excuse that there was some sort of rain or a group of goats in the middle of the road that's why you weren't able to deliver my card. Come Monday, I swear to my glass of holy milk I will hit your face with an iPad. No, iPad 2.

Hope you have a great weekend, because that is the last weekend that you will EVER EVER experience.

Sincerely,

A pissed-off (x99999999) consumer

New Other Blog

Hey guys! Sorry for being AWOL for the past few days. I've been doing so much work for the upcoming blog awards, and I've been up for a couple of nights designing a new blog. Yep, that's right, a new blog!

I've been thinking about making a blog where I can put in posts that don't belong under fashion (aka 70% of my life lol). If you notice on my blog, I've posted several entries about food, travel, and whatnot that doesn't really belong under the umbrella of retail. So to prevent your faces from making puzzled looks, I made a new spot called The Super Kitty.

I hope you guys can start following The Super Kitty because I have so much in store for that blog! I'm not playing favorites here, I still love Wild About Retail. But yeah, The Super Kitty will show more about the other side of... me, duh. :)

SEE YOU AT THE OTHER SIDE, CHICAS!

Yabba Dabba Halloween

While Halloween is just about to end in some parts of the world, MNL just had an awesome long weekend to celebrate Halloween! Did you guys have fun? Well, I sure did. I came as a sailor (BOO NO PHOTO) at Jel's party, and Pebbles at Nadia's 5th Halloween Party. I had to sew a makeshift Pebbles top. I don't want to ruin the green tops inside my closet so I just bought a few yards of jersey and placed everything together.

So awesome to see some university friends and have a little reunion!

What's your costume this year?

I love Halloween so much that I'm planning my costume next year!

Thanks to Chichi and Ma for the photos :)

The first hipster in my life

Meet my new seatmate, Thei.

She has a cat named Sgt. Diego, who I think can be a good friend of Potato. She LOVES to eat, and she can bake bad-ass cupcakes (I have yet to try those!). Anyways, she's in this blog because she is the FIRST EVER hipster in my life. I really don't know how to define the word hipster but according to Urban Dictionary, hipsters are a subculture of men and women typically in their 20's and 30's that value independent thinking, counter-culture, progressive politics, an appreciation of art and indie-rock, creativity, intelligence, and witty banter.

I think she's the first hipster that I ever had a close encounter with because:

1. She says the words "dude", "solid", and "BOOM!" in an inexplicable manner. Basically, she makes those words sound so hipster.

2. She gives us so much "love".

You'll be seeing us around together, most of the time. Do drop a greeting on my seatmate's Twitter!

I just really wanna flood her Twitter mention timeline right now. Lelz

Red Hair Attempt #2

I took a trip uptown to Podium and gave my hair another revamp. I had my fingers crossed the whole time when I was driving going to the salon, because the first attempt for my hair to turn red was a half-baked fail. I left my hair's fate to Miguel of Hairshaft, who is also Kring's stylist!

Miguel plopped me down on a comfy seat, asked me what I wanted, and went down to business. He first snipped some parts of my hair. He was actually cool; he gave inputs on what style best fits my face and character (MEGANON!!). We ended up having a shorter length on the right than on the left, and a reaaaally short bob at the back. Shorter than the bob that I always have.

After the cut, Miguel and his assistant started applying the two levels of bleach on my hair. I was shaking like a soaking wet duck.

CONFEEEEEERMED

I got hold of the newspaper this morning and guess what I saw on the bottom left part of the frontpage:

No, it's not Mr. Roxas being confirmed as the secretary of the Department of Transportations and Communications.. -.-
